Did you buy one of the ICBC auction cars?

In February, the corporation said that 98 cars and trucks had been repaired in its Burnaby training facility and then sold without full disclosure of the vehicles' history.

Employees and managers took advantage of an auction loophole to bid on vehicles being sold by an ICBC repair facility, the corporation said.

Working with a vehicle broker, an Insurance Corporation of British Columbia staff member would ensure they were given the final bid on certain cars to outbid any other prospective buyer, said ICBC spokesman Doug Henderson on Monday night.

The vehicle repair research division in Burnaby was closed in mid-February. Later that month, the B.C. government hired PriceWaterhouseCoopers to audit the research centre's activities.
